Lisa and her husband Mark have been married 29 years and have 3 adult children. They serve at Central Church of Christ. About her session: What’s holding you back from freedom in Christ? So often we long for a deeper, more freedom-filled relationship with Jesus, but can’t shake our fears, past guilt, or present sins. We were made free in Christ through His death and resurrection, but living in that freedom so often feels elusive! In this session, we will learn how to grasp this freedom through prayer and begin to live out the full and abundant life Christ promised us.

Ruth Czirr teaches journaling to individuals and groups. She grew up in the Lutheran church and joined the Religious Society of Friends (“Quakers”) as an adult. She has had a lifelong interest in how humans are different and what they have in common, and how each individual can best put their gifts to work. Her own work has been unfolding since her retirement three years ago. During her session she will cover Prayer and Temperament: Prayer is all the ways we talk with God. Prayer is also how we listen for the still, small voice of the spirit. Prayer is also our moments of being-with-God that go deeper and higher than human words.God calls to every one of us. But the lifelong journey we make with God can take many different forms. If we encourage each member to use what God gave her, each of us can make the journey, and can be refreshed and strengthened as we do it. In this workshop, Ruth will ask you to answer a few simple questions in private and will introduce five methods of prayer that may be new to you, and suggest which methods suit which temperaments and may work better where you are in your journey.

Kinsey Smedley and her husband, Michael, currently have two House of Three care homes in Hot Springs. In 2016, they transformed the home where they had raised their three children (Katherine, Evan, and Clint) into a home where three senior individuals now call home. Their family has served over 25 foster children over a span of 16 years, so opening their hearts and home was not foreign to them. It was just a new generation.
